Operations

The Operations Department of Carolina Beach is committed to providing professional and quality service to the citizens of Carolina Beach. The Department’s mission is to operate and maintain all divisions safely, and in compliance with State and Federal Rules and Regulations.

Water Division:

Produces and delivers quality water to customers, while continuing to improve and upgrade it’s (14) fourteen wells and groundwater system.

Waste Water Collection Division:
Provides a safe and environmentally sound wastewater collection system through proper operation and maintenance of (14) fourteen pump stations.

Waste Water Treatment Division:
Operates, maintains and manages the Town of Carolina Beach Waste Water Treatment Plant in an efficient and effective manner to insure proper treatment of wastewater. The Carolina Beach Waste Water Treatment Plant, which is a regional facility, treats not only wastewater produced by the Town of Carolina Beach, but also treats wastewater produced by the Town of Kure Beach and Fort Fisher.

General Maintenance Division
Maintains and constructs streets, parking lots, and associated drainage and vegetation control, as well as maintaining/providing signage, markings, traffic safety control, and street cleaning, public buildings, grounds and town lighting system.

Storm Water Division
Maintains and constructs drainage and provides large equipment needs for implementation of town projects.

Environmental Division
Keeps all area of the Town, including beach areas, central business district, marina and roadside free of debris and vegetation overgrowth, and provides adequate trash receptacles and benches for use by the citizens and tourists, and installs sand fencing for the protection of dune and dune vegetation.

Mowing Division
Responsible for mowing all the right of ways in town property.

Fleet Maintenance
Provides the proper maintenance/repair of town vehicles and equipment.

Greenhouse

The town's greenhouse produces hundreds of thousands of sea oats for sale to coastal homeowners, businesses an other beach communities.  Sea oats are indigenous to this region and are used for the protection of coastal sand dunes.  They are capable of trapping large quantities of sand during their first growing season.  The plants are sold for .45 cents each and are available in trays of 288 plants at a cost of $129.60.  The greenhouse is located at
