About the Police
Chief Chris Spivey is a North Carolina native who was born and raised in the Raleigh area. He was an emergency room and surgical nurse’s aide for 10 years prior his law enforcement career. He attended Sampson County Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training in 1999 and was sworn as a law enforcement officer initially with Atkinson Police Department. Chief Spivey was hired by the Carolina Beach Police Department in 2000 as a Police Officer I. He was quickly promoted to a Corporal only after serving for a year. Chief Spivey was promoted to the Criminal Investigative Division as a Detective and served in that group for a couple of years, during which he was awarded Officer of the Year in 2007. In 2008, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and served in that capacity until 2013. Because of his strong leadership he became the Patrol Lieutenant in 2013 and successfully served until becoming Chief in September of 2015. Ensuring the safety and security of the Carolina Beach residents, visitors and businesses is of utmost importance to Chief Spivey and he has built his career to reflect that over the last 15 years.
