At a special meeting this morning, Carolina Beach Town Council, in accordance with a mediated settlement with Carolina Beach Land Holdings, LLC, approved the purchase of nine properties in the downtown boardwalk district. Included in the purchase are the following parcels:
- R09006-010-008-000100 Canal Drive
- R09006-010-009-0008 Cape Fear Blvd.
- R09006-021-002-0003 Boardwalk
- R09006-021-003-0001 Carolina Beach Ave. South
- R09006-021-005-0005 Carolina Beach Ave. South
- R09006-022-002-0007 Carolina Beach Ave. South
- R09006-022-003-0009 Carolina Beach Ave. South
- R09006-023-007-0001 Cape Fear Blvd.
- R09006-024-014-000101 Cape Fear Blvd.
The agreed price for all nine properties is $15 million dollars, and the purchase should be completed by the end of 2025. The purchase is contingent on the properties appraising at the purchase price and Local Government Commission approval.
Through the purchase, the Town can improve the downtown boardwalk district for family friendly activities as well as offer more parking options to residents and visitors. Mayor Lynn Barbee said, “This purchase, along with our planned infrastructure projects, will make Carolina Beach an even greater place to live and visit.”
