Effective May 8, 2020, 5:00 p.m., the Carolina Beach municipal beach strand is open to the public with the following restrictions:
- Individuals shall follow strict social distancing measures.
- No groups shall have more than 25 people.
Yes. On April 13, 2020, New Hanover County modified its State of Emergency and the prohibition against recreational motorized boating at:
- All government owned public boat ramps
- Privately owned boat ramps
- Publicly owned marinas
- Privately owned marinas
has been rescinded by New Hanover County effective 4/13/2020.

The Town of Carolina Beach is following the restrictions set by the State of North Carolina and New Hanover County. The playground, basketball courts, and team sports facilities are closed at Mike Chappell Park. The playground at McDonald park is also closed.
Lake Park is open for walking, but we are urging residents to take the practices of social distancing extremely seriously. Please be aware that park benches, picnic tables, and other equipment are not sanitized so guests should use extra precautions and follow CDC guidelines.
Yes, the Carolina Beach Island Greenway is open. Please observe at all times CDC's social distancing of 6 ft from other people. Warn other trail users of your presence as you pass to allow proper distance and step off the trail to allow others to pass, keeping recommended distances at all times. We also politely ask that you refrain from using the trash receptacles as much as possible. If you leave no trash, you are protecting town of Carolina Beach employees.
During the Governor’s declared State or Emergency your water will not be disconnected, and we will not charge you late fees, interests, or penalties.
