image1Traffic congestion, safety, economic development, bike and pedestrian opportunities, and community values are all factors we look at when designing or redesigning a roadway.  Lake Park Blvd. from Dow Road down to Carl Winner is continuing to see a significant amount of new commercial development and many new homeowners and businesses depend on this stretch of roadway.

The Town has hired Kimley-Horn, a planning and design engineering firm, to perform a traffic/corridor study to  address current and future development by coming up with roadway design options that will accommodate the anticipated increases in level of service we know we will be seeing here in the near future.

During the project, three (3) public workshops are being held to present information to and receive comments and input from residents and businesses located in the study area.  The workshops are open to the public the Town encourages anyone interested in this topic or who work or own property in the traffic study area to attend.

PUBLIC WORKSHOP#1-September 13, 2017
This workshop mainly dealt with the current structure of Lake Park Blvd. between Access Dr./Food Lion Shopping Center and the Carl Winner Ave. traffic signal.

PUBLIC WORKSHOP#2-November 15, 2017
At this workshop, Kimley-Horn took the comments and concerns from the first meeting, added in crash and analytic data required by NCDOT, and provided a presentation showing two possible options that would improve the functioning of this section of Lake Park Blvd. Input was taken from attendees and will be used to identify needs and make changes to be presented at the final workshop in December.

PUBLIC WORKSHOP#3-March 27, 2018
Kimley Horn has finished the analysis and public outreach, and presented options to Council for review and discussion.
