The Town was awarded a grant from the NCDOT Bicycle and Pedestrian Program for development of a Town-wide pedestrian plan. The project will include analysis of existing sidewalks, greenways and multi-use paths and several public workshops to assist in prioritizing pedestrian system needs.
A steering committee appointed by Town Council has been working with consultants since spring 2017, and have hosted two public workshops and a public needs survey. The plan was approved by Town Council in June.
The newly appointed Town Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee will serve as an advisory board to assist in implementation of the plan. The committee held their first meeting in June.
