The beach is a way of life for many Carolina Beach residents and those who visit. And now the beach is even more welcoming to residents and travelers with disabilities and others with limited mobility who are looking for a relaxing or exhilarating day on the beach. The newly constructed accessible boardwalk is welcoming to individuals with disabilities and others with limited mobility.
Beach wheelchairs are available for use free of charge through the Carolina Beach Parks and Recreation Department. The Town is also working on the installation of an AccessDeck from the boardwalk. This strong interlocking panel system is designed for outdoor accessibility needs and offers a wheelchair/pedestrian friendly, non-slip tread design to guarantee a safe and comfortable access way while still providing a traction resistant surface for vehicles and equipment.
Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (910) 458-2977 with any questions about accessibility at the boardwalk and beach areas.
